Youth of the Year

Youth of the Year is Boys & Girls Clubs’ premier recognition program, since 1955. Its purpose is to foster a new generation of leaders.

Each Club nominates a high school member annually to compete to represent our organization as Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade Youth of the Year, and to compete at the state level and possibly national level.

The National Youth of the Year, along with the other four regional runners-up, then travel to Washington, D.C. and speak to members of Congress and meet the president of the United States. To achieve the title of Youth of the Year on any level, Club members must embody the values of leadership and service, academic excellence and a healthy lifestyle. They should exemplify the critical impact that Boys & Girls Clubs have on the lives of young people

Sarah Corrales

Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade Youth of the Year 2025

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade provides a safe, nurturing environment where young people can learn, grow, and reach their full potential. One outstanding example of this mission in action is Sarah Corrales, the 2025 Youth of the Year.

Sarah is a 15-year-old 10th grader at Southwest Miami Senior High with a passion for leadership and creativity. She aspires to attend the University of Florida to study marketing, with dreams of becoming a fashion marketer. Through her involvement in the Keystone Club and Project Blue Whale, she has embraced opportunities to develop essential life skills and give back to her community.

At school, Sarah is equally dedicated, participating in HOSA, Thespians Honor Society, and other clubs that foster her personal and academic growth. She is known for being supportive, generous, selfless, and true to herself. Sarah credits Boys & Girls Clubs for helping her overcome the fear of what others think and for enriching her life with valuable educational and personal development skills.

Above all, Sarah brings empathy and kindness to the Club, ensuring that those around her feel safe, heard, and supported. She is a shining example of the impact the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade has on shaping future leaders.
